Welcome to the official website for The College of Gleann Abhann! This site is maintained as a service to the populace of The Principality of Gleann Abhann, a region within The Kingdom of Meridies, and other interested parties.
The purpose of the college is to aid in the education of the populace of Gleann Abhann on all aspects of the Middle Ages through local and Principality Collegiums. The College is administered by a Chancellor under the supervision of the Royal University of Meridies.
Basic information about the college is provided below. Please refer to the college catalog for complete and official information. In cases of conflict with the printed version and material presented on this page or its links, the dispute will be decided in favor of the printed version. A new catalog will be available before the end of the year; however until that time, the A.S. XXXIV, 2000 Gregorian issue should be used.
~~General Information~~
The College of Gleann Abhann is responsible for all college related classes conducted within the Principality. Correspondence, documentation, requests for classes, or general questions and comments should be addressed to the proper adminstative personnel.
Students may receive college credit for classes taken elsewhere in the Society, provided that such classes conform to college standards and are within the structure of the college's curriculum. Courses taken through the Royal University of Meridies are already CoGA accredited.
Any SCA member may enroll in the College. It is the responsiblity of each student to maintain copies of their personal transcripts and ensure their local provost or seneschal has a copy of their current membership information. College records are updated twice yearly.
~~Registration~~
All students must complete a registration form and submit it, along with the one-time fee of $5.00, in order to be properly registered. A registration form is provided in the forms section of this site or can be obtained from college administrative personnel or a local provost. Forms and fees should be submitted to the Administrative Assistant.
~~Instructors~~
Individuals wishing to teach are much appreciated and are invited to become certified through the College of Gleann Abhann. All instructors are monitored through the Chancellor's office. Anyone wishing to teach a class is required to submit a class synopsis for review and approval. Instructors receive one-time credit for each class they teach.
~~Study Programs~~
The college provides four separate study programs from which students may choose to enroll. Within each school the curricula sets forth general categories at three different levels. Class requirements for each course of study can be viewed by clicking on the link for each particular program.
~~Forms~~
Various forms used in the administration of the college can be obtained by visiting the Forms Section of this site. The forms are a printable HTML version and include the Provost Report Form, Teachers Synopsis Form, Class Attendance Sheet, and Student Registration Form.
~~Regalia~~
A portion of the $5 registration fee is used to provide students with college regalia. Upon completion of the first level within the student's chosen course of study, the student is issued a red and black belt token with one chevron. An additional chevron is awarded for each subsequent level completed. When all four levels have been completed, the student is considered a graduate of that particular study program and a baldric and ram's head adornment is presented to them.
